The Madhya Pradesh Legislature, in the sixteenth year of the Republic of India, enacted an Act for the establishment of a Board in order to regulate Secondary Education in Madhya Pradesh and other ancillary matters. In 1965 this autonomous body was established under The Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education Act, 1965. [3]
It was brought under the administration of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education in 1964. Model High has been a center of student politics in Bhopal since its early years. Raman Higher Secondary School was one of the oldest schools in Bhopal.This school was established in 1963 by Bharat Heavy Electrical Education Society (now part of BHEL Shiksha Mandal Bhopal, with funding from the public sector engineering company Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Bhopal.
It was inaugurated by Lt Gen Chandra Shekher, AVSM GOC21 Corps, [2] and Founder Chairman Brig Ramesh Bhatia, VSM & Bar, Cdr MP Sub Area on 17 July 1995. Class X started in 1997 and Class XII started in 2000. 11 batches have passed out since the 2000-01 session. The school was renamed Army Public School, Bhopal, and is operated by the Indian Army.
