In the 1972–1973 school year, Seventy-First received full accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. A new vocational building and a new greenhouse were officially opened for the 1974–75 school year. Construction of the newest wing was begun in the fall of 1988 for use in the 1989–1990 school year.
Camp Bragg was established in 1918 as an artillery training ground. The Chief of Field Artillery, General William J. Simmons Army Airfield [2] (IATA: FBG, ICAO: KFBG, FAA LID: FBG) is a military use airport located in Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States. [1] It is located on the southeast portion of Fort Liberty and supports the aviation needs of the XVIII Airborne Corps, the 82nd Airborne Division, Special Operations, U.S. Army Reserve and U.S. National Guard aviation units.

The school was moved to the building on Campbell Avenue in September 1929. At that time, the school was known as the Southside High School. This building was used until 1932. In September 1932, the school was rehoused in the building on Orange Street, remaining there until January 1940. A new modern edifice was built on Washington Drive in 1941.
Orange Street School is a historic school building located at 600 Orange St. It was built about 1915 and was the original home of E. E. Smith High School from 1927 to 1929 and 1931 to 1940.
