Hillcrest Wildlife Management Area is located in Hancock County near New Cumberland, West Virginia. Located on 2,212 acres (895 ha) of former farmland, the flat bottoms and rolling hills provide open fields, old orchards and small forest lots. [2] From New Cumberland, follow WV Route 8 east about 4 miles (6.4 km) to Gas Valley Road.
West Virginia contains a network of eight state forests that help to protect over 70,000 acres (28,000 ha) of wooded lands in the state. Most of the forests are managed by the West Virginia Division of Forestry, although Kanawha State Forest is managed as a state park by the Division of Natural Resources.

West Virginia Division of Forestry is a government agency of the U.S. state of West Virginia. It is a division of the West Virginia Department of Commerce. [1] The West Virginia Division of Forestry is responsible for regulating and maintaining West Virginia's state forests and other state-controlled forest areas.
The Tomlinson Run State Park Foundation was established in the 1990s by citizens of Hancock County to raise funds for the improvement of the park. Over the years, foundation funding has been used for numerous park improvements including a new maintenance building, playground equipment, picnic shelters, and flag poles.
