Hi, does somebody know how to make a HDMI to DVI adapter. I have a HDMI cable and a DVI female plug, but cant find a pin out for HDMI. I am sorry, unlike component, composite or even vga cables. HDMI/DVI is not DIY. The plug structure of the HDMI terminal has 19 wires/shields on it. These are terminated by machine.

I have a 35' DVI to HDMI cable with a DVI to HDMI adapter on the DVI end. This make it HDMI on both ends. It is running overhead in my drop ceiling. It is a high quality 24 Awg cable. Does anyone know if this cable will work to carry a 4K HDR signal? 60Hz? It would be easier to use this than running a new cable.

Question for you all before I click "buy". I have a video card with DVI output I want to connect to the HDMI input on the back of my TV. I see plenty of ads for both HDMI-to-DVI and DVI-to-HDMI cables. I was under the impression that either of them would work for the purpose of transferring video (no audio) in my setup.

  6. How to make your own HDMI Cables - AVS Forum

Steve Vanuti, the HDMI Marketing Manager, claims that to splice an HDMI cable it must be within 1/20000 of an inch. On a typical cable, it's around 9 inches per nanosecond (1GHz). That means that according to the spec, HDMI signals must be less than a picosecond apart. I'm surpised you're even allowed to bend the cable at those tolerances.

  7. Best connection with HDMI and DVI ports on projector?

I second the recommendation to use an HDMI cable and then just use an HDMI->DVI adapter at the projector end. If it's a DVI-D cable then it's the same as basic non-ethernet HDMI cables. DVI cables that also carry analog are a different animal, but again probably wouldn't really matter much. If it's a long run, make sure it's a good quality ...
