This has shown up on most of my EKGs, and I do see a cardiologist who said everything is okay, but never really mentioned this finding. Is this early repolarization. I Read two things. That is is normal and nothing to worry about. It increases the odds of cardiac arrest and arrythmia - specifically an idiopathic VF.
Early repolarization is an upsweep of the st segment and is usually throughout the ekg and not specific to two contiguous leads,and almost always benign. It is not treated. The ekg may read acute mi but it is not.
On the other hand, I have fairly short QTc around 350ms (although this doesn't particularly worry my cardiologist), and I wonder if I don't also have an early repolarization disorder. My cardiologist marked "normal repolarization" on his workup, but without wishing to play doctor's apprentice, it seems dubious to me.
Benign early repolarization generally does not have reciprical change (inverted T wave in aVL). An inverted T wave in some leads, including aVL, can be normal variant for the patient. It tends to have notching at thd J point as well. Although it turned out to be an unevent cath with no elevated troponin, you did well.
Well, I was in the hospital again in February. My EKG was normal aside from t wave flattening and early repolarization . I’m not concerned about that, but I am curious if the “pericarditis” was just early repolarization the whole time since they can look similar if I’m not mistaken.
