The Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs offers three distinct and historic Golf Courses. Francis Byrne Golf Course is located in West Orange, Hendricks Field Golf Course is located in Belleville and Weequahic Golf Course is located in Newark, the largest city in Essex County.
Designed by architect Charles Banks (his only course designed for public use), Essex County’s Hendricks Field features well contoured putting surfaces and many interesting holes.

Originally Designed by George Lowe (then Baltusrol Pro) in 1913. Weequahic Golf Course opened for play in 1914, making it the oldest public golf course in the state of New Jersey.
