The Tri-City Americans are an American major junior ice hockey team playing in the Western Hockey League and based in Kennewick, Washington. Founded in 1966 as the Calgary Buffaloes, the team settled in Kennewick in 1988 after a number of relocations. The team plays its home games at Toyota Center, which was purpose-built for the team.
The Tri-City Americans have released their 2024-25 Western Hockey League schedule. Among the highlights are 10 games with the Spokane Chiefs — including the annual New Year’s Eve game.
Barnes left the Stars front office after the 2012–13 season, and went on to serve in a dual capacity as the Tri-City Americans co-owner in the Western Hockey League and as the head coach of the Okanagan Academy Prep hockey team. Opened 37 years ago in 1988 as the Tri-Cities Coliseum, the arena's name was changed in 2004 to the Three Rivers Coliseum to match the Three Rivers Convention Center, which was built next door in the same year.
