Peshawar Division is an administrative division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. It was abolished in the reforms of 2000, like all divisions, but reinstated in 2008. At independence in 1947, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (then North-West Frontier Province) was split into two divisions, Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar.
The battle was a decisive victory for the Sikh Empire against Afghans and led to their occupation of the Peshawar Valley. [7] The city came under British rule in 1849. During British rule, Nowshera was a town and cantonment tehsil of the Peshawar District (later Peshawar Division).
[2] The institute is located in the Hayatabad area of Peshawar and is organised into four faculties —management sciences, computer sciences, information technology and liberal arts. [3] It is recognised as a degree-awarding institution by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and is chartered by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. [4]
Managed by the Directorate of Archives and Libraries, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the library holds a substantial collection, dating back to 1849. [4] It includes 140,000 books, 35,000 publications, 45,000 original files, 25,000 magazines, and 600,000 old newspapers.
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, previously known as the Frontier Women University, is located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It was formed as result of an order from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in 2004 and the university has been functioning since 2005.
