Adekunle Ajasin University was established as Obafemi Awolowo University in March 1982 by the government of the old Ondo State, headed by the late Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin. [3] A state specialist hospital is situated at Ikare Akoko, while community general hospitals are located in Oka-Akoko and Ipe-Akoko.
The Executive Governor Adekunle Ajasin began to operate the Polytechnic immediately he assumed office in early 1980. It was renamed Ondo State Polytechnic in 1990. By 2010, the polytechnic had over 4,000 students. [4]
