The 11th Hussar Regiment, initially called the 2nd Westphalian Regiment, was a notable cavalry unit of the Royal Prussian Army and the German Imperial Army. It was established in Düsseldorf in December 1807 and originally bore the name of 2nd Royal Westphalian Hussar Regiment.

[1] [3] With the outbreak of the First World War, the 11th Hussars along with the 7th Hussars provided volunteers help raise the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles for service with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. The 7th/11th Hussars was a light cavalry regiment and later light armoured regiment of the Non-Permanent Active Militia of the Canadian Militia (now the Canadian Army). The regiment was formed in 1936 by the amalgamation of the 7th Hussars and the 11th Hussars from the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
