Jayton High School or Jayton School is a public high school located in the community of Jayton, Texas, in Kent County, United States and classified as a 1A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Jayton-Girard Independent School District located in central Kent County serving the communities of Jayton , Girard , and surrounding rural areas.
Jayton is located in eastern Kent County. U.S. Route 380 touches the southern border of the city; the highway leads southeast 24 miles (39 km) to Aspermont and southwest 13 miles (21 km) to Clairemont. Texas State Highway 70 is Jayton's Main Street and leads northwest 24 miles (39 km) to Spur.
The First National Bank Building at 402 Donoho St. in Jayton, Texas was built in 1912. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. [1] It is a Classical Revival-style building with brick veneer and masonry bearing walls on a concrete foundation. It also served as the Kent County Courthouse in 1955. [2]
