The Rim Trail is a hiking trail [1] located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, located in the U.S. state of Arizona.It is a 13 miles (21 km) trail between the South Kaibab Trailhead west to Hermit's Rest. [2]

Hermits Rest is a structure built in 1914 at the western end of Hermit Road at the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, United States. The Hermit Trail, a hiking trail that extends to the Colorado River, begins about ¼ mile beyond the shuttle bus stop at Hermits Rest. Hermits Rest also represents the western terminus of the Rim Trail.
The hotel was designed by Charles Whittlesey, Chief Architect for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway and was opened in 1905 as one of a chain of hotels and restaurants owned and operated by the Fred Harvey Company in conjunction with the Santa Fe railway whose Grand Canyon Depot was 100 metres (330 ft) away.
The cabin is one of the guest accommodations of the Bright Angel lodge. [2] The Buckey O'Neill Cabin was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 29, 1975. [1] It is included in the Grand Canyon Village National Historic Landmark District. [3]
The trail is accessible by use of U.S. Forest Service roads along the south rim of Grand Canyon. The trailhead is located in a remote area of the park's south rim and is accessible from Rowe Well Road or Forest Service Road #328. It generally takes 1½ to 2 hours to negotiate the 29 mile (47 km) trip from Grand Canyon Village, Arizona.
