The Ottawa Senators were an ice hockey team based in Ottawa, which existed from 1883 [1] to 1954. The club was the first hockey club in Ontario, [ 5 ] a founding member of the National Hockey League (NHL) and played in the NHL from 1917 until 1934.
Founded and established by Ottawa real estate developer Bruce Firestone, the team is the second NHL franchise to use the Ottawa Senators name. The original Ottawa Senators, founded in 1883, had a famed history, winning the Stanley Cup 11 times, [6] playing in the NHL from 1917 until 1934.

The Ottawa Senators are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa. The team is a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Senators were granted a franchise in 1990. The team participated in the 1992 NHL expansion draft and the 1992 NHL entry draft and began play in the 1992–93 season.
