It really just depends on what role they hire you for. If it's something like a stocker (CAP 2), OGP, or cashiering, quite a bit of your job revolves around helping customers. If you aren't a cashier this is mostly just helping them find products they're after (the Walmart app is a lifesaver for that).
Pay is decent and work is ok. Work load 7/10. Social aspect 1.5/10. My biggest complaint with walmart is that Im constantly working with 40 year old children but thats to be expected. Overall rating of walmart is roughly 5/10 and thats more on the generous side if anything
My store gets absolutely slammed with three times the amount of frieght than we are capable of working, but thats a familiar story in many Walmarts. And I get why others hate the place as a whole. Holidays in toys can be summed up as this though: toys are gonna fly off the shelves, toys will then fly off of the pallets, and you will fly trying ...
Been working frozen/Dairy since I started at Walmart. Moved to overnight several months ago. Yeah. Fuck frozen. It really wouldn't be an issue if they would keep our freezer and backroom clean, but that never happens since ogp and meat apparently have food fights during the day.
This! I can't upvote this enough times. I worked overnights before and managed to sleep from 8-12, be up from 12-4 and then sleep from 4-8. I had 4 hours during the day and any time after 8 to do whatever I wanted on days I wasn't working.
I have a better job now but enjoy working when I can. my Walmart is located in a small town where everyone knows everyone. I have worked for my location for almost 11 years. as such, it feels like I grew up in my store as I was 21 when I first started.
Trying to help a new roomie apply for a job at my store, and it looks like the Careers section of the Wally World website is broken.
Walmart has excellent systems. When working properly, with trained staff that knows what they are doing, Walmart excels in delivering product to the floor. Even though Walmart is very good at what they do, there is still definitely room for improvement in their processes. This surprised me.
I work at the wintersville grocery DC as a freezer order filler for almost 2 years now. The reason the grocery DC freezer order filler is physically the hardest job walmart has, is because of the cold. I've done dryside and dairy/deli, nothing taxes your body more then the -15° to -25° warehouse for 10 hours a day.
On the other hand, leaving was the best thing I ever did. There is life after Walmart, and new friends to make. I don't regret my time at Walmart, but neither do I regret leaving. Everyone is in a different situation and has different options available to them. Do what's best for you. Working at Walmart can take a toll on anyone's mental health.
