For movies I use Potplayer with MadVR 16-235, BT.709, few other settings, I have it down to a science. My question is; in Potplayer; recently I found, under Pixel Shaders, a shader with the name Remap_16_235, can someone explain to me what this one is?
I've had no luck with passthrough of AC3 or DTS with Potplayer as well, I only get 3 channel PCM L.R.C stereo, rears come out the LR and no LFE. I'm using a 12700K/MSI Carbon z690/Win11 with Optical S/PIDF to my AVR. Use to be able to get 5.1 and AC3/DTS passthrough with Win10 on my old system but really don't want to run Win10 now on the new.

In Potplayer, going to Colorspaces in preferences and selecting RGB 32 in "Output color space" might also be an option that works, but I dont know how that compares to that above, especially when it comes to videos that are not the same as movies usually is (aka for example Full RGB instead of Limited RGB).
Tone mapping is not done direct from the Elgato card- it can pass through HDR information over USB 3.0, and is then processed by MadVR in PotPlayer. Tested and confirmed- just trying to eliminate some glitches. Great test video is the LG Jazz video- gorgeous colors after tonemapping, almost makes the vanilla version look lifeless.
i do have transer meta data enabled. also not sure when it started acting up. for a good minute i stopped using madVR cause i noticed potplayer has madshi as a renderer without installing madVR. i also noticed the HDR button at the bottom of the player so i assumed it was now built in to potplayer. i later started to suspect it was not really HDR but more like windows fake auto HDR. switched ...
