In 1892, it was renamed Austin House in honour of William Piercy Austin, the first Anglican bishop of Guyana. [3] The building fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1894. Guyana Zoo (officially Guyana Zoological Park) is a zoo located in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana. The zoo officially opened in 1952, but its grounds had been used as botanical gardens since 1895.
