Illinois Route 33 (IL 33) is a multidirectional highway in southeastern Illinois, with its western terminus at Illinois Route 128 on the Fayette–Effingham county line near Beecher City and its southern terminus at U.S. Route 50 east of Lawrenceville.

Just north of Sumner, IL 250 moves off south to Sumner and Bridgeport. Just northwest of Lawrenceville, US 50 Business begins; it serves downtown Lawrenceville. Across the Embarras River, US 50 reaches a one-quadrant interchange with IL 1. East of Lawrenceville, US 50 becomes a four-lane divided highway for the rest of its run in the state.
Lawrenceville is located in southeast Illinois, northwest of Vincennes, Indiana. The city is home of the Lawrenceville "Indians", Illinois Class A high school state basketball champions in 1972, 1974, 1982 and 1983. The team had a combined two season win–loss record of 68-0 from 1982–83.
Through Snellville north to Lawrenceville, the road is known as Scenic Highway. [2] In town, it intersects US 78/SR 10 and then, the Ronald Reagan Parkway; the Eastside Medical Center, Snellville's largest employer, is located on this portion of the route. [3] On the southwestern edge of Lawrenceville is Sugarloaf Parkway.
