The FIDE Grand Prix 2022 was a series of three chess tournaments played between 4 February and 4 April 2022. [1] The top two finishers – Hikaru Nakamura (winner) and Richárd Rapport (runner-up) – qualified for the Candidates Tournament 2022, [2] which was the final qualification stage for the World Chess Championship 2023.
The FIDE Grand Prix is a biennial series of chess tournaments, organized by FIDE and its commercial partner Agon. Each series consists of three to six chess tournaments, which used to form part of the qualification cycle for the World Chess Championship or Women's World Chess Championship .

Through February and March 2022, Andreikin played in the FIDE Grand Prix 2022. In the second leg, he won his group with a 4/6 result and defeated Anish Giri in the semifinals with a 2.5/4 result in classical and rapid time formats. He was defeated by Richard Rápport in the finals with a 0.5/2 result.

Through February and March 2022, Fedoseev played in the FIDE Grand Prix 2022. In the first leg, he placed third in Pool B with a 3/6 result. In the second leg, he tied for third with Alexei Shirov in Pool C with a result of 2.5/6, finishing 19th in the standings with three points.
Oparin and Caruana had both 7.5 points but Oparin had a weaker tiebreak. However, he qualified to take part in the FIDE Grand Prix 2022. In the first leg of the FIDE Grand Prix 2022, he placed last in Pool B with a 2.5/6 result. In the third leg, he finished second in Pool A with a result of 3.5/6, finishing 14th in the standings with four points.
