This is a list of school districts in Rhode Island, sorted alphabetically. The majority of school districts are controlled by town governments, with some by city governments. As of 2002, the Central Falls School District was directly controlled by the Rhode Island government (and had been since 1991).
The system was established in 1972, incorporating Holy Family Junior High School, Monsignor Gadoury Elementary School, Our Lady of Victories Elementary School, Sacred Heart Elementary School, St. Ann Elementary School, and St. Joseph Elementary School. At some point the system closed the Holy Family, Sacred Heart, and St. Ann campuses.

Forest Avenue Elementary School In 2009, in consideration of a decline in enrollment and a reduced budget, the school district closed John F. Kennedy Elementary School. [ 1 ] As of 2014 [update] Newport Public Schools sends preschool students to leased classrooms at Kennedy due to overpopulation at Claiborne Pell School in Newport . [ 2 ]
