Ram Chandra Shukla (4 October 1884 – 2 February 1941), [1] better known as Acharya Shukla, was an Indian historian of Hindi literature. He is regarded as the first codifier of the history of Hindi literature in a scientific system by using wide, empirical research [2] with scant resources.

The first translation of the Kural text into Hindi was probably made by Khenand Rakat, who published the translated work in 1924. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Khan Chand Rahit published a translation in 1926. [ 3 ] In 1958, the University of Madras published a translation by Sankar Raju Naidu under the title "Tamil Ved."
In the following year, the film version of the novel was released as Siddhartha, starring Shashi Kapoor and directed by Conrad Rooks. Musical compositions based on the novel have included Claude Vivier 's symphonic poem , Siddhartha (1976), [ 10 ] [ 11 ] and Pete Townshend 's song "The Ferryman", written for an amateur dramatisation in June 1976.
The first Hindi books, using the Devanagari script or Nāgarī script were Heera Lal's treatise on Ain-i-Akbari, called Ain e Akbari ki Bhasha Vachanika, and Rewa Maharaja's treatise on Kabir. Both books were published in 1795. [citation needed] Munshi Lallu Lal's Hindi translation of Sanskrit Hitopadesha was published in 1809.
Shrilal Shukla (31 December 1925 – 28 October 2011 [1]) was a Hindi writer, notable for his satire. He worked as a PCS officer for the state government of Uttar Pradesh, later inducted into the IAS. He has written over 25 books, [2] including Raag Darbari, Makaan, Sooni Ghaati Ka Sooraj, Pehla Padaav and Bisrampur Ka Sant.
