The Bridgewater Hall is a concert venue in Manchester city centre, England.It cost around £42 million to build in the 1990s, [2] and hosts over 250 performances a year. It is home to the 165-year-old Hallé Orchestra as well as to the Hallé Choir and Hallé Youth Orchestra and it serves as the main concert venue for the BBC Philharmonic.

The gallery was founded in 1889 by Robert Dukinfield Darbishire with a donation from Sir Joseph Whitworth, as "The Whitworth Institute and Park". The first building was completed in 1908. [2] In 1958, the gallery became part of the Victoria University of Manchester. [3] In October 1974, the gallery became a Grade II listed building. [4]

The Hallé performs about 70 concerts a year in Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, opened in 1996. Hallé St Peter's is a grade II listed former church in Ancoats which was converted for the orchestra to use for rehearsals, recordings, and small performances, and as a base for the choirs and Youth Orchestra.
The Society organises a diverse programme of Concerts and, during its history, has programmed more than 2500 performances. [5] In its Centenary Year (2015), the Society welcomed the World Premiere of Edward Gregson’s String Quartet and performances by Jennifer Pike, Mi Luna, Craig Ogden, The Navarra Quartet and Peter Donohoe.
