The creation of the Red Caboose Motel began with the incorporation of "Red Caboose Lodge, Inc." [a] by Donald M. Denlinger on January 9, 1967. Constructed in 1898 as an eight-room inn, Mount Airy Lodge was re-constructed in the 1950s as the Pocono's largest resort. In its heyday in the 1960s and 70's, Mount Airy had more than 890 rooms, indoor/outdoor pools, skiing, snowmobiling, ice-skating, hiking, biking, horseback riding, archery, an 18-hole golf course and paddle ball courts on over 1,000 acres of property.
