The Tuscarora Trail is a 252-mile (406 km) hiking trail in the eastern United States, following the Appalachian Mountains through portions of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Its route is roughly parallel to, and to the west of, the Appalachian Trail .

Laurel Mountain's name was derived from the prolific "great laurel" (Rhododendron maximum) which the earliest pioneers found there in profusion the late 1700s.[1]After the June 3, 1861 Battle of Philippi (by some reckonings the first land battle of the Civil War) [citation needed], the Confederate forces, having been routed by the Union Army in Philippi, retreated south.

The Allegheny Trail is a 330-mile (530 km) hiking trail that passes through the Allegheny Mountains in West Virginia, and part of western Virginia, United States. It is the longest named trail in the state excepting the Appalachian Trail , 4 miles (6.4 km) of which traverses the state at Harpers Ferry .
Mountain Lake Wilderness ranges in elevation from about 2,200 feet (670 m) to over 4,000 feet (1,200 m). The area is bisected by the Eastern Continental Divide and has about 17 miles (27 km) of hiking trails, including 5 miles (8 km) of the Appalachian Trail. [2] The area is part of the Ridge and Valley System of mountains.
