The core of the Wurlitzer pipe organ at Organ Stop Pizza was built for the Denver Theatre in Denver, Colorado, and was installed in 1927 for silent movies. [3] It saw service there until the 1930s. The organ was rebuilt in 1975 for the Mesa Organ Stop Pizza location. The Wurlitzer was later expanded to include pieces from other Wurlitzers.
The very popular Organ Grinder pizza parlor, with its famous two story organ, was located at the center. By 1990, the center was past its prime and declared a blighted site. The center was redeveloped by Brighton Corporation in 2009-11. A public art installation, "Geese", was created by the Colorado sculptor Fred Lunger as part of the project.
