Brio (stylized BRIO) is a wooden toy company founded in Sweden. The company was founded in the small town of Boalt, Scania , Götaland in 1884 by basket maker Ivar Bengtsson. [ 1 ] For a long time the company was based in Osby , Scania, in southern Sweden.
The company offers sets in its Tidlo line (introduced 2010) in its Small World category. In 2010 it became the distributor to retailers in the UK for the Italy-based company Sevi. IKEA Lillabo, the furniture brand from Sweden produces its own wooden train sets. In the 90s Micki Leksaker of Sweden was the supplier.
In the 1960s, TYCO changed its focus from train kits to ready-to-run trains sold in hobby shops and added HO-scale electric racing sets, or "slot car" sets. A wide range of slot cars and repair parts, track sections, controllers and accessories were also available. The slot car rage started in 1963. [3]
With its vibrant orange and black theme, this spooky set from 1960 includes a 4-4-0 locomotive, haunted gondola complete with livestock, and pumpkin-themed accessories.

So far over two dozen models have been produced, along with character-themed train sets. Unlike Hornby's products, Bachmann's models have moving eyes. In January 2009, Bachmann announced that, in an agreement with HiT Entertainment, a line of large scale Thomas electric trains will be produced, under the title "Large Scale Thomas & Friends".
