Podocarpus (/ ˌ p oʊ d ə ˈ k ɑːr p ə s / [2]) is a genus of conifers, the most numerous and widely distributed of the podocarp family, the Podocarpaceae. Podocarpus species are evergreen shrubs or trees, usually from 1 to 25 m (3 to 82 ft) tall, known to reach 40 m (130 ft) at times.
Podocarpaceae is a large family of mainly Southern Hemisphere conifers, known in English as podocarps, comprising about 156 species of evergreen trees and shrubs. [1] It contains 19 genera if Phyllocladus is included and Manoao and Sundacarpus are recognized.
Nageia is a genus of conifers belonging to the podocarp family Podocarpaceae. [4] Nageia includes evergreen shrubs and trees, from one to 54 meters in height.A 2009 treatment of the genus recognized five species. [5]
Nageia nagi is a hardy tree species that can withstand a range of weather conditions, but it prefers moist sites that are well drained and with full sunlight to light shade. Being from the family Podocarpaceae, it is a dioecious tree, that is, the male and female parts of the trees are on separate plants. [ 2 ]

[2] Podocarpus nakaii is a good garden plant because of its beautiful tree shape and lovely bright red receptacles.
Prumnopitys ferruginea, commonly called miro, is an evergreen coniferous tree which is endemic to New Zealand. Before the genus Prumnopitys was distinguished, it was treated in the related genus Podocarpus as Podocarpus ferrugineus. It grows up to 25 m high, with a trunk up to 1.3 m diameter.
