Manderlay is a 2005 avant-garde drama film written and directed by Lars von Trier, the second and most recent part of von Trier's projected USA – Land of Opportunities trilogy. Unlike von Trier's other trilogies, the films' stories are connected and it is a direct sequel to Dogville .
Danish film director Lars von Trier's 2005 film Manderlay is set in a country estate with a large domestic staff. In Stephen King's 1998 novel, Bag of Bones, "Manderley" is a semi-isolated lake house in Maine, identified with Sara Laughs, in the dreams of the main character Mike Noonan.
