Vila Real (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈvilɐ ʁiˈal] ⓘ) is the capital and largest city of the Vila Real District, in the North region, Portugal. It is also the seat of the Douro intermunicipal community and of the Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro historical province.

The church is located in the town of Trofa, in a small, isolated churchyard slightly arborized and enclosed by wall, separating it from agricultural lands. The train first arrived in Vila Real station on 1 April 1906, [12] but the station was only inaugurated on 12 May 1906 as a temporary terminus of the Corgo line. Vila Real is one of the 22 multi-member constituencies of the Assembly of the Republic, the national legislature of Portugal. The constituency was established in 1976 when the Assembly of the Republic was established by the constitution following the restoration of democracy. It is conterminous with the district of Vila Real.
