Known briefly as the Aero Commander 200, it soon emerged that the firm could not produce the design economically. Meyers' firm had been virtually hand-building each aircraft and no jigs or tooling for the kind of mass production envisaged by Aero Commander even existed at the time the rights were bought.
Originally, the company produced a biplane trainer, the Meyers OTW, but after World War II developed a range of light utility aircraft, culminating in the Meyers 200.In 1965, the company and the rights to two of its aircraft, the 145 and 200 were purchased by the Aero Commander Division of Rockwell-Standard.
Both these aircraft had a steel structure and then covered in aluminum. Meyers built the model 200 until 1965 when he sold the company to Aero Commander. He then retired from aircraft building. In 1974, Meyers was elected to the Pioneer Aviation Hall of Fame. Meyers died on March 15, 1976.
On July 31, 2008, an Aero Commander 200D crashed while landing at Meyers–Diver's Airport. The pilot reported that the landing approach was uneventful up to the flare and touchdown. He increased engine power just prior to landing because he thought the airplane was slow.
