The 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season was announced on September 5, 2022. [1] It was the 68th season of the National Hot Rod Association's top drag racing competition. The NHRA held 21 Top Fuel and Funny Car events, 18 Pro Stock events, and 15 Pro Stock Motorcycle events.
Top Fuel was the first category, with Funny Cars added in 1966, Pro Stock four years later and Pro Stock Motorcycles in 1987. Both Top Fuel and Funny Cars regularly see top speeds in excess of 300 miles per hour (480 km/h) today, and one thousand foot times anywhere from 3.70 to 4 seconds.
Note at Norwalk, the first two rounds were televised live on Fox Sports 1, and the remainder aired on tape delay on Fox Sports 2 after the NASCAR race, as Fox Sports 1 had coverage of the 2016 Copa America final. The first Brainerd Top Fuel and Funny Car, and the first Lucas Oil Raceway Pro Stock (car) final aired on tape delay (FS1).
