In 1988, the school became the first hospital-based nursing school to become accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. [ citation needed ] On December 12, 1991, North General Hospital moved into a newly built, modern facility at 1879 Madison Avenue, between 120th and 121st Streets, two blocks south of its old location.
