Some historical comarques of the Valencian Community are now part of other comarques in the new territorial demarcation, such as Tinença de Benifassà and Ports de Morella. Before 2021, Horta Oest was a formerly a comarca, when it was mostly annexed by Horta Sud with the municipality of Paterna joining Horta Nord .
The Horta Sud region was created in 1989 and included part of the former Ribera Baja region and part of the historic Horta de València. These old regions appear on Emili Beüt's map of regions " Comarques naturals del Regne de València " published in 1934.
The Costa de Valencia has the most beaches with Blue Flag status in Spain. [ 1 ] To its north is the Costa del Azahar (in province of Castellón ) and to the south lies the Costa Blanca (in the province of Alicante ).
