Abysskiss (stylized in all lowercase) is the third solo studio album by Adrianne Lenker, released through Saddle Creek Records on October 5, 2018. [1] The album was recorded at Panoramic Studio in West Marin, California with Luke Temple and Gabe Wax, who respectively handled production and engineering duties. [2]
Accompanying the album announcement, Lenker released the second single "Sadness as a Gift" on January 17, 2024. The song features a "tender blend of twangy guitar, violin, and piano" paired with her "affectionate" voice. [10] One of the first songs recorded for the album, "Fool", was released as the third single on February 20.
Bob Boilen from NPR wrote that Big Thief was "a band bound by great songs," and called the title track of Masterpiece "one of the best songs I've heard this year."
