Noble County is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,115, [2] making it the fourth-least populous county in Ohio. Its county seat is Caldwell. [3] The county is named for Rep. Warren P. Noble of the Ohio House of Representatives, who was an early settler there. [4]

Crooked Tree was originally called Jacksonville, and under the latter name was laid out in 1854. [2] The present name was given on account of there being a crooked tree near the original town site. [2] A post office was established under the name Crooked Tree in 1858, and remained in operation until 1904. [3]
