Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is the state agricultural university of Tamil Nadu [1] Headquartered in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the 1st State Agriculture University (SAU ) of India to be accredited by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

K. Ramasamy (Tamil: கு. இராமசாமி; born 1 May 1948) is the former Vice Chancellor [1] of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, and was also the Member of State Planning Commission (agriculture and irrigation) [2] of Tamil Nadu.
The members of the High Level Committee, consisting of Dr. S. Arumugam, Dr. M. Natarajan, and Dr. S. Kameswaran, submitted the proposals to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran in the presence of H. V. Hande, former Minister for Health and Family Welfare Department of Tamil Nadu, on 5 July 1983 to start a separate medical university in Tamil Nadu.
Since 1857, the college has been affiliated to the University of Madras and all degrees of Health Sciences were awarded by the same until 1988 when the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University Act, 1987 received the assent of the president of India. [8] This affiliating university started functioning from July 1988 and is governed by the said Act.
For 10 years, she has overseen a college with 14 departments, 29 centers and institutes, more than 7,600 undergraduate students, 320 faculty members and 585 staff members.
The college was affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University consequent to its inception in 1967 till the newly formed The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Guindy, Chennai in 1988. The college increased the number of admissions to 100 per year during 1973-74 and was subsequently recognised by the Medical Council of India since the year 1977.
