U.S. Route 183 (US 183) is a north-south U.S. highway that begins in Texas in Refugio at an intersection with US 77 (Future I-69E) concurrent with US 77 Alt. The highway runs through many small communities with Austin being the only major city along its route. The highway exits Texas concurrent with US 70, crossing into Oklahoma.

The route number was changed to FM 836 on November 6, 1948. The western part is now FM 2794 . On March 22, 1960, Loop 111 was designated as the Austin Loop , running east of Austin from I-35 down to US 290 and extended further south to US 183 on August 23, 1960.
The entire length of Loop 360 is 13.8 miles (22.2 km). An extension of 0.7 miles (1.1 km) to connect the northern end of Loop 360 with Loop 1 was once considered part of the Loop, but has since been removed from the state highway system.
