On June 30, 2021, the Walnut Grove Elementary School District was disestablished due to insufficient numbers of students, so the southern portion was given to Wickenburg Unified. As of 2021 [update] no K-12 students lived in that section, and most of it was owned by the State of Arizona or the federal Bureau of Land Management .

At Wickenburg High School (Wickenburg, Arizona), 1980–1984, Stevens was a three-sport athlete playing football, baseball and wrestling. He set three Arizona state records: most takedowns in wrestling, most career baseball walks, and the season record for walks.
