The International Handball Federation (IHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball. [1] IHF is responsible for the organisation of handball's major international tournaments, notably the IHF World Men's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1938, and the IHF World Women's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1957.
In the same year the first international field handball rules were created in The Hague. [4] Two years later during the 1928 Summer Olympics the IAAF invited national representatives to create an independent federation. [5] Representatives from 11 countries founded the International Amateur Handball Federation on 4 August 1928 in Amsterdam.
The 2024 Women's Beach Handball World Championships were tenth edition of the championship, held from 18 to 23 June 2024 in China, under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). [1] [2] The championship was held at the Pingtan International Beach Sports Base at Long Wangtou Ocean Park in Fuzhou. [3]
If no Oceania team places among the top five at the Asian Championship, the IHF will award an additional wild card. In addition, there will be 12 performance places for the continental confederations, which are based on the teams ranked 1–12 in the preceding World Championship.
