Ferber method and extinction burst!! I read Precious Little Sleep. It was quite helpful because it summarize so much of the information about baby sleep. My husband felt more comfortable with check-ins so we used the foundation of sleep knowledge from the book to help us along with the Ferber method. Our baby is 5 months old.
Two hours of crying from 10pm-12am. Then each night the amount of crying decreased to only 5-10 mintues. And last night was night seven and she slept through the night from 8pm-6am with no crying at all! This was the first time she has ever slept through the night and she is 11 months old. Hang in there! 2.
Ferber literally saved my life. I had PPD with my second. She woke up every 1-1.5 hours. I was so sleep deprived I was close to taking my own life to end the misery. 3 nights of the Ferber method and she was sleeping through the night. Each night got better. She cried so hard she puked, but I just went in cleaned her up and started again.
Practical questions to use Ferber correctly (naps, amounts of time crying) I'd like to ask for advice - we've just started the Ferber method with our 5.5 mo baby and am not sure if we're doing anything wrong. He's already weaned himself off the night feeds a couple of weeks ago, so we've been focused on the following issues: 1/ very hard to ...
Navigating sleep training can be so tough, but it sounds like you're really ready to give the Ferber Method a try. Typically, the method is used for nighttime sleep to start with, as naps can be a bit trickier and might need a gentler approach. For naps, you might consider a softer method initially, like shorter check-ins or a more gradual ...
Congrats!!! The Ferber check-in time intervals don't have a ton of rhyme or reason behind them. They're just something that Richard Ferber made up to give structure to parents (he acknowledged this himself). There are TONS of variants with different check-in intervals, etc. The specifics matter less than you think.
Midnight. Middle of the night wake up for food. We keep it a small feed at 60ml. Awake between 20 and 30 minutes crying. 12:30 AM - 6:00 AM. Sleeping. Total nap time = 2 and a half hours. Wake windows are about 3 hours. Total formula = About 800ml (some days more, some days less)
We are on day 5 of Ferber (working with a sleep consultant) and my 4 month old cries for 3 hours + each night. It is only getting worse for us. The hard thing is I know if I could just feed her to sleep she would sleep 10-11 hours like before sleep training - all we wanted to do was teach her how to fall asleep on her own because we know it’s ...
So after having alot of horrible nights and almost impossible to put down for naps, we decided to follow the Ferber method for out 16 weeks old. We decided to still include night feeds but reduce the amount as he's gotten used to them. Results so far: Night: Cried for 37 minutes and then went to sleep for 4 hours!
Ferber Method failure?? Infant 2-12 Months. FTM here. Our girl is five months old and we’ve been doing a version of the Ferber Method where we let her cry for ten minutes and comfort for five minutes, over and over until she sleeps. Once she’s asleep she usually does great, but we’ve been at this for a month and she’s still taking one ...
