Just learning, struggling with NYT Medium. I'm just starting out, I can get the NYT easy relatively quickly but the NYT medium takes me well over an hour if I can complete it at all (I've only completed it once). I've started using the "hint" option to help me solve them quicker but it isn't helping me today.
But, I'm trying to find out what are 'goodish' times. For me, easy always under 4 mins, usually around 3:20-3:30, very occasionally 3:00. medium always under 35 mins, usually around 18 mins, occasionally under 15 mins. hard always under 45 mins, usually around 30 mins, occasionally under 20 mins (today for example was 18:39) which is why I ...
I've been playing Sudoku now for close to a year. Not sure about the easy and medium, but I've been tracking on hard anywhere between 13 minutes to 30 minutes depending on difficulty. I see videos of pros taking around 30 minutes to solve hard. Sometimes the NYT hard puzzles are quite the challenge. Sometimes they are quite easy.
Share. oldenumber77. • 4 yr. ago • Edited 4 yr. ago. NYT Medium are almost always considerably easier than the NYT Hard’s (in my observation). I sometimes do NYT Medium without any notes at all. If a particular NYT Medium seems harder than usual, you probably over-looked a pretty obvious single (naked or hidden) or pair/triple. [Edit ...
My best time for an expert puzzle is 8.9 minutes. My usual time is about 12-15 minutes. 2. anniversaryx. • 3 yr. ago. Easy-medium puzzles i can finish in almost 2-3 minutes. I can do a hard puzzle in 4-7 minutes usually, and it’ll take 23-30 minutes for a expert one. I did sudoku alot when I was younger. 1.
Ny times hard puzzles are usually just moderately difficult, and I don't think I have found one that need anything more complex than triples. I plugged today's Hard NYT puzzle into my solver. The analyzer found 4 naked pairs, 3 pointing lines and 3 group claims before the puzzle degenerated into singles.
NYT Medium for 3/4/2024 is S.C rated Hard, but I optimistically prepped the text as if it would be a No Notes. Whellll, it was too hard for me in that I grew frustrated after stalling around the 10m mark, so I added notes and solved it quickly after that. Since I prepped it, I present it to you—Notes or No-Notes as is your preference.
I just completed today’s NYT Medium. It took 29 or so minutes. A very interesting, stimulating puzzle. I very strictly followed the Snyder Notation. No cheating. No guessing. No short cuts. A few of the Solves required more imagination than logic; and, on top of everything else, spotting the geometric patterns was important, as well.
But even at the hard level, there a sort of sub set of puzzles one could describe as "challenge" puzzles, that are trickier than normal. Mostly those have lots of hidden singles, pairs, and triples on top of the usual techniques around 3.4 to 3.6. Those "challenge" puzzles can be best described as far more tedious, rather than more difficult.
Anyone else experiencing the NYT hard puzzle as easier than the medium? Most mornings I attempt both without notes. lately I’ve found that whereas I can complete the hard puzzle in under 15min the medium often takes 25min or more and requires peeking at the autonotes. Curious if anyone else has experienced similar and has any insight about it.
