Allow herbs growing in pots to dry out a little between waterings. Your potted herbs can be fed every two-four weeks with a liquid fertilizer such as fish emulsion, mixed at full strength as suggested on the product label. Be aware, fish emulsion STINKS if you spill it, so mix and apply with care. Reply reply.
If I were to keep an Ikea greenhouse year round, I would only do partial weather stripping, every shelf would have a fan, I would need to ensure there was proper light distribution all around, frequent fertilization, and the herbs would probably be in small shape and quantity. For the light required, it produces a lot of heat.
Basil can live on a sunny kitchen window OK, but almost all the other herbs I like: dill, rosemary, oregano, thyme like a lot of sun. So, if you go indoors, you need lighting for them. Depends greatly on which direction your windows face. If your kitchen window faces E, SE, or S (in Northern Hemisphere), you'll get decent sun.

Parsley: You want flat leaf (italian), there is regular and there is root parsley, both grow good greens but root seems to overwinter better. Doesn't need tons of root room, grows inside well. Needs some sunlight but is somewhat shade tolerant. Basil: Grows well from seed. Bolts in heat, wilts below 40F.
Adding 1 pound of Dolomite to the growing media before planting (as in the instructions) can help prevent BER from forming. In the event BER still presents itself, mix ¼ cup of hydrated lime or pickling lime with one gallon of water and add it to the reservoir the next time you fill your EarthBox with water.
But the information I find online isn't specific enough for the questions that came up during growing, and I am a complete beginner to herbs, so was hoping for some help! I got a big tray of little pots (just to make seedlings and replant into bigger pots later) and planted about 10 different herbs, a few seeds to each pot.
