Mayfair is a British adult magazine published monthly by Paul Raymond Publications. Founded in 1966, it was designed as a response to US magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse , the latter of which had recently launched in the UK. [ 1 ]
Raymond first moved into publishing in 1964 when he launched the men's magazine King, but it ceased publication [1] after two issues. [6] In 1971, he took over and relaunched the adult title Men Only from City Magazines [13] (it had been launched by C. Arthur Pearson Ltd in 1935); [14] his other magazines eventually included Razzle and Mayfair.
In March 1975, only a few days before she was killed, Stratford appeared on the front cover of Mayfair magazine, an adult magazine for men, as "girl of the month". [10] [12] [17] She was suspended for breach of contract by her club since she had posed for a rival publication. [16]
It was the main competitor to Fisk Publishing's Mayfair as well as US magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse during the 1970s and 1980s (Raymond latterly took over Mayfair in 1990). Early issues of Paul Raymond's Men Only often included serious articles and interviews, though since the 1980s these have largely been omitted.
Club International was founded in 1972 [1] [2] [3] and is published every four weeks, making thirteen issues per year. Each edition consists of one hundred printed pages and is staple-bound, with the exception of the slightly larger "special edition", published at the start of each new volume, which has some 120 pages and flat glued binding.

Stephanie McLean is a British model who was the Penthouse Pet of the Month for April 1970 and Pet of the Year in 1971. She was the first Pet of the Year in the US. She also appeared in Mayfair magazine on the cover of volume 5 issue 12 under the name "Gabrielle Nolan" and again in Mayfair magazine in volume 8 issue 8, this time under her own name.
