Academic events at the high school level are held in the spring. Schools compete within the same conference as in athletics and marching band. There is no division of competition by grade level in high school academic events; all students in grades 9–12 that compete in a particular event compete against each other.

On February 18, 2015, the Bangor Fire Department responded to a fire at the school. Around 11:00am, school employees were attempting to melt ice on the roof with a blowtorch. The flames from the torch lit a fire underneath the roof of the building. The fire damaged a biology lab, and a chemistry classroom located on the 4th level of the school.
In 2006 the university sold the multimedia advertising and broadcast rights to all athletic events to Missouri-based Learfield Sports. Starting with the fall 2007 sports season, WVOM and WGUY split radio coverage, WGUY carrying men's and women's basketball and select baseball and softball games and WVOM carrying football and hockey broadcasts.

Marshwood High School is a public high school in York County, Maine, United States. It serves the towns of Eliot and South Berwick , as well as Rollinsford, New Hampshire . It has been at its current location at 260 Dow Highway ( Route 236 ) in South Berwick since September 1999, when it was moved from its previous location in Eliot.
