Lee County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 17,478. [1] Its county seat is Giddings. [2] The county was founded in 1874 and is named for Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The county has many Confederate memorials and monuments to the Confederate States of America.
There are three properties listed on the National Register in the county. Two properties are Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks including one that is also a State Antiquities Landmark . This National Park Service list is complete through NPS recent listings posted November 29, 2024.
The Lee County Veterans Association was created to manage and conduct fundraising for the project which broke ground in spring 2020. The Wendish heritage in Giddings is celebrated annually in nearby Serbin, Texas, put on by the Texas Wendish Heritage Society. It occurs on the fourth Sunday every September.
Dime Box is an unincorporated community and census designated place in Lee County, Texas, United States. The Dime Box Independent School District serves area students and home to the Dime Box High School Longhorns. It is named after what is now called Old Dime Box.

The Lee County Courthouse is a Texas State Antiquities Landmark, is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.. The first Lee County Courthouse was built in 1878 in Second Empire style, but was destroyed by fire in 1897.
