Willard Franklin "Bill" Shadel (July 31, 1908 – January 29, 2005) was an American news anchor for CBS Radio and ABC Television. Shadel was born in Milton, Wisconsin, one of five children and the younger of two sons of Franklin Luther and Ida Louise Pachel Shadel.
He then spent several years as a News Director/Reporter for several radio stations in Madison and La Crosse, Wisconsin and in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1980 Miklaszewski signed on as one of the " CNN Originals" where he quickly logged considerable battlefield experience covering the wars in Lebanon , El Salvador and the Falkland Islands .
While working at WISN, Taff mentored reporters such as Shaun Robinson, Ben Tracy, and Jason DeRusha. [1] He also taught a course on journalism at Carroll University. [2] After serving as lead male anchor for WISN-TV for 25 years, Taff retired on May 25, 2005. [7] [8] Taff was inducted into the Milwaukee Media Hall of Fame on October 23, 2009. [9]
