Doves issued a third digital-only single in advance of the album with "Saint Teresa" on 10 February 2025, shortly after the announcement of a special red-coloured 10" vinyl single release of deluxe edition bonus tracks "Cally" and "Lean into the Wind" for Record Store Day on 12 April 2025.
The Universal Want is the fifth studio album by British rock band Doves.The album was released by Heavenly Recordings and Virgin/EMI on 11 September 2020. [1] The Universal Want is the band's first album following a hiatus that began in 2010; the band members pursued solo projects in the interim.
The album has also been certified platinum by the BPI. [2] In February 2005, Doves released their third studio album Some Cities, which again topped the albums chart at number 1, and produced the hit single "Black and White Town", which charted at number 6, and the minor hit "Snowden", which peaked at number 17. The band's fourth album, Kingdom of Rust, was released in April 2009. Prior to the new release, Doves offered a free download of the album's lead track "Jetstream" on their website. On 27 January 2009 the band announced a week's worth of tour dates from 12–19 March, in which new album tracks made their debuts.
Lost Souls is the debut studio album by British indie rock band Doves, released by Heavenly Recordings on 3 April 2000. The album was recorded over a period of several years, following the dissolution of Doves' original musical incarnation as house music act Sub Sub.
The compilation was released as a standard single-disc best-of, as well as a deluxe three-disc edition, featuring the best-of album along with a bonus disc of B-sides, rarities, alternate versions, and album cuts, plus a bonus DVD collecting all of the band's music videos from 1998 through 2009. Doves wrote, recorded, and mixed the album within eight months, "which for Doves was incredibly fast," concluded Jez Williams. [4] "M62 Song" is credited to the band and Robert Fripp, Michael Giles, Greg Lake, Ian McDonald, and Peter Sinfield because, as stated in the album sleeve, the song is an adaptation of "Moonchild" by King Crimson.
It was self-released on the band's Casino Records label (co-founded by Rob Gretton) on 9 November 1998 on limited 10" vinyl. The epic track "The Cedar Room" later became the band's first single from their debut album Lost Souls. Following the release of the Cedar EP, Doves briefly joined Badly Drawn Boy as his backing band.
