Miller began to receive requests from stamp and postmark collectors for cancellations: Hell had no post office, instead being served by the one for Pinckney, three miles away. On July 15, 1961, a postal substation was established at Hell, operating from May 1 through September 30.

Great Barton is a large village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk, England, about 3 miles (5 km) East of Bury St Edmunds on the A143. [2] At the 2011 census the village had a population of 2,191 rising to 2,236 at the 2018 mid year estimate.
The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.14. In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 26.6% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
