Joseph Gladwin KSG (22 January 1906 – 11 March 1987) was an English actor, best known for his roles as Fred Jackson in Coronation Street, Stan Hardman in Nearest and Dearest, and Wally Batty in the world's longest-running sitcom, Last of the Summer Wine (1975–1987). [1] [2]

Last of the Summer Wine's ninth series originally aired on BBC1 between 1 January 1986 and 27 December 1987. [1] All episodes from this series were written by Roy Clarke and produced and directed by Alan J. W. Bell. [2] The ninth series was released on DVD in region 2 as a box set on 5 May 2008.
