    The "Abruzzi" were often referred to as part of the Mezzogiorno, literally meaning half-day, a term used mainly to describe the Southern Italy. However, all of Abrusso's major cities are north of Rome as is at least three-quarters or more of Abruzzo's land mass. Thus, georgraphically there is no doubt that Abruzzo is in Central Italy.
