Answer: Port Pain 4 years after Lap-Band. It is very unlikely that your port would start moving around 4 years after surgery. By this time the port is well encapsulated and shouldn't move. Fortunately band slippage is rare, occurring in only 2-3% of patients. It is diagnosed by x-ray imaging. Sometimes removing fluid from the band will allow the stomach to adjust and the symptoms to resolve. So she removed all of the liquid in my band to allow my stomach to return to normal. As soon as she removed the liquid I felt a strong pain under my breastbone that made it painful to breath. The pain went away after a couple of hours but now I feel this pain come and go even though I'm eating as I should.
